Fee Mak officially Joins BBC 1Xtra to host the ‘Weekend Breakfast Show’

Fee Mak is now the new presenter taking over the Sunday ‘Weekend Breakfast Show’ on BBC Radio 1Xtra. From the 14th of August, Fee Mak will be on your airwaves from 7-11am.

Faron McKenzie, the head of BBC Radio 1Xtra says: “I’m so excited to have Fee join as a permanent member of our team. Her broadcasting talent, positive energy, and passion for music are undeniable and I know she’s going to bring something very special to our listeners on a Sunday morning!”

BBC Asian Network is launching four new shows this week including BBC Introducing and the Asian Network Takeover which includes hosts Jasmine Takhar and DJ Kizzi.

The new BBC Introducing show will be hosted by Jasmine Takhar. It will be a two-hour weekly slot featuring brand new music from Asian artists. Jasmine Takhar says: “This one’s a personal victory for me. It’s such an honour to be the voice for brand new music with BBC Introducing.  “I’ve been championing rising talent and music from outside of London for the last few years and to be selected to host this show is a big deal. The British Asian music scene is thriving and it’s an amazing feeling knowing that I’ll be playing a huge part in selecting incredible new music that this scene has to offer. I’m absolutely buzzing!”

Another new show is the Asian Network Takeover which will be every Wednesday, 10pm to midnight. The show is essentially a new format for the former Residency show. It will feature six new DJs who will host for one month each, before returning six months later. The first DJ will be DJ Kizzi who is joining the station at just 19 years old.

We’re now able to offer much more for our audience to explore and listen to on BBC Sounds, with regular mixes on the radio and on-demand, as well as a focus on new music. “We’re also stamping our authority in Birmingham with three brand new shows and moving forward on the success of the Big Debate with a brand new look and feel to the delivery of our news and current affairs programming on the station.”

BBC Radio 1 is changing its schedule for 2021 and Fee Mak is one of the new presenters joining the line-up. From this Friday, Fee Mak will be taking over Early Breakfast on Fridays. The show will feature a different presenter every month.

The Head of Radio 1, Aled Haydn Jones, has said it is a really exciting time for Radio 1 as they prepare to welcome the next generation of talent and on the new Friday morning rotation they’re going to be hearing from some fantastic new presenters over the coming months.

Rebekah Walker has joined Tottenham Hotspur FC as the clubs new host. This follows the news that Spurs have started a new partnership with Twitch by launching an official channel on the world’s leading live streaming platform. Viewers will be able to take advantage of a live three-hour watchalong stream on match days, presented by Rebekah who is a lifelong Spurs fan. It will also feature N17 Live presenter Ben Haines.

Since the start of January, live watchalong shows have been available for all domestic home and away games. The channel will also feature training tutorials and tips from Tottenham Hotspur’s Global Football Development coaches and collaborations with Club partners.

Charlie Powell is joining Global as the new host of The Capital Weekender (Saturdays & Sundays 1.30am–5am) and Monday afternoons on dance station, Capital Dance (4-7pm).

Her first show as part of The Capital Weekender line-up will be tomorrow (Sat 2nd Jan), bringing listeners non-stop party anthems across the Capital network. Her first Monday drivetime show on Capital Dance will be next Monday 4th January 4-7pm.

BBC Radio 1 has announced 33 new presenters taking over the station this Christmas. Joining the line up is Rebekah Walker who will be hosting ‘Radio 1 Anthems’ on Wednesday the 30th of December, 2-6pm and Friday 1st January, 8am-12pm.

Head of BBC Radio 1, Aled Haydn Jones, says that the introduction of this initiative last year was a way of giving some new young presenters a chance to showcase their talent on a national level and it’s proven to be a fantastic springboard, with many of the presenters landing follow up gigs on Radio 1 and beyond.

BBC Asian Network has announced brand new schedule changes for March 2021. Part of the new line up includes Nayha Ahmad taking over from Drivetime host Yasser to present The Official Asian Music Chart Friday, 4-6pm. The weekly show is a rundown of the most purchased, streamed and downloaded Asian Music by UK audiences.

Nayha started her career on community radio shows, going on to present the Chart Show on Westside Radio and daytime shows on Vibe FM. She most recently became the weekday afternoons presenter at commercial radio station Aspen Waite Radio.

Kiss have announced eleven new specialist shows in the form of KISS Nights with Charlie Powell presenting her new show 'Future Dance' on Saturdays 3-6am. The slots launched on Monday the 9th of November and will reflect Drum and bass, Afrobeats, Grime, Hip Hop, all forms of House, Garage and more.

This year has marked the 35th year since the launch of KISS as a pirate station. KISS Nights will now bring entirely new programmes and a few recent KISS legends to complete the transformation.
