Andrea Zara is the host of weekends on One World Radio, the global radio station by ‘Tomorrowland'.
Andrea is an award winning Broadcaster and DJ with a successful, decade-long career hosting record-breaking shows on national radio (KISS FM UK), along with a wealth of experience in other areas such as; interviews with the biggest global stars (Taylor Swift, Ed Sheeran), hosting red carpets for film premieres and award ceremonies (The Brit Awards, Lion King Premiere) and DJing at major UK music festivals (Glastonbury, Reading & Leeds, Isle Of White).
Andrea’s career in broadcasting began in 2012 when she became a finalist among thousands of applicants for KISS FM’s nationwide presenter search, ‘The KISS Chosen One’. By 2013, Andrea was co-presenting the station’s peak afternoon show ‘Live@KISS’ , which broke records across Bauer’s entire radio portfolio and garnered status as ‘London’s Number One drive-time show’, amassing a regular audience of 2.2 million listeners each week.
The industry seal of approval however, came via Reelworld’s Radio Academy ’30 under 30’ award. An accolade presented to applicants with “exceptional tenacity, talent and a proven trajectory in radio and audio”. Essentially, the annual list of "the ones to watch".
In 2019, Andrea moved on to host a solo show, weekday mornings on KISS FM UK, which featured the the iconic ‘KISSTORY’ hour, a format widely known for it’s cultural significance and prominence within the UK. During the height of the pandemic in 2020, the show gained a prolific rise, becoming the most popular show on the station. The host quickly earned the nickname, ‘KISSTORY Queen’ by listeners, who, notably weighed by constraints of lockdown measures, needed a source of escapism, connection, and familiarity during unfamiliar times.
Andrea announced her departure from Bauer in Spring 2022 to embark on a new venture at KOKO, one of the UK’s most iconic music venues’. Since joining this summer, Andrea assisted on the launch of KOKO’s digital content platform, an exciting new chapter in the venue’s historic 120- year legacy.
In addition to her love for music, Andrea is equally as passionate about the planet and the effects of climate change. She has a Master’s In Environment & Sustainability and is utilisng her skills as a broadcaster to play a contributing role in communicating solutions towards the future of sustainabile development.
Andrea is a supporter of Plan International's ‘Sponsor A Girl' activity, and believes a large part of sustainability also means girls across the world having access to education. Andrea also supports the youth led organisation ‘Green New Deal Rising’ and marched alongside them in 2021 for the ‘Global Day Of Action’ during COP26 in Glasgow, where Indigenous leaders and 100,000 people from various organisations around the world, all gathered to demand climate justice.
During the process of undertaking her postgraduate degree, Andrea received a number of diagnoses such as ADHD, Dyslexia, and Dyscalculia. To help raise awareness and remove the stigma surrounding these disabilities, Andrea often participates in discussions within the neurodiverse community by reflecting on her own experiences of late diagnosis. Ultimately, Andrea would like to help neurodiverse women become more empowered within themselves to thrive in a society that hasn’t necessarily been built for them.
