Freya Cox

Freya Cox is a Northern radio presenter, author, and entrepreneur based in York.

Her broadcasting journey began at BBC Radio York in 2024, fuelled by a lifelong love of conversation and connection. She presented the Summer Saturday afternoon show (2–6pm) and now regularly covers the popular Coastal show across Yorkshire, bringing warmth, energy, and personality.

Freya first rose to prominence as the Great British Bake Off’s first-ever vegan contestant in 2021, capturing national attention and paving the way for her multifaceted career. Since then, she has published an award-winning debut recipe book, built a thriving social media community of over 150,000 followers, and collaborated with leading global brands on authentic, high-impact campaigns.

In 2023, Freya launched her own business, Freyas — a range of plant-based cake mixes — which has led to café takeovers, live demos, and festival appearances. She’s no stranger to the spotlight, having presented at food events across the country, appeared on children’s TV (Saturday Mash-Up, CBBC), and regularly shared foodie tips on radio and in print, including features in Sainsbury’s Magazine and Yorkshire Life.

Beyond presenting and producing, Freya has extensive digital experience — from uploading and curating content for BBC Sounds to creating articles and social-first campaigns. She has also worked as a freelance social media officer for organisations such as Veganuary, further cementing her expertise in connecting with large, engaged audiences.

Outside of media, Freya’s journey is just as inspiring. A former competitive gymnast of 10 years, she went on to study psychology at the University of York before pursuing her passion for creative industries. She has also enjoyed work as a fashion model, balancing her diverse talents across multiple creative platforms.

Most recently, Freya has been invited abroad to collaborate with major brands, including a content partnership in Geneva for a new product launch, showcasing her versatility as a presenter, content creator, and entrepreneur.
