Jojo Silva

Jojo Silva is a radio presenter from West London. She is the host of the Early Breakfast show on Capital Xtra, Mon to Fri.

Jojo’s journey in radio started after applying to present on her university radio station. She developed a passion for broadcasting and a year on from hosting the ‘Chart and Chat’ show, she progressed into overseeing the production and presenting of her own specialist RnB show at Royal Holloway’s Insanity Radio before going on to join Watford’s IMIN Radio.

After submitting a demo to Westside Radio on a whim, Jojo was invited to cover a variety of slots on the station before taking the reigns and hosting the Westside Connection (Mon-Fri). In May 2022, Jojo started covering shows on the UK's biggest Hip Hop station Capital Xtra broadcasting nationwide. Fast forward to 2023 and in September, Jojo was given the Early Breakfast show from Mon to Fri, 4-6.30am.

Outside of radio, Jojo waves the flag for education at every opportunity. For ten years, Jojo was teaching in challenging London schools after qualifying through the Teach First Leadership Development Programme. Having gained a Masters in Educational Leadership on route, Jojo progressed into numerous roles such as that of Lead Practitioner and Assistant Principal - her passion was supporting those new to the profession through coaching and mentoring.

One of Jojo’s biggest passions is literature. Her core belief is that every human has a story to tell; she has spent the last decade empowering students aged 11-18 to indulge in literature which broadens their view of the world and allows them to explore their own place in it. Drawing on her radio experience, Jojo has a passion for selling the power of literature to those who are reluctant readers - from the Orwells, Shelleys and Atwoods of the literary canon to recent works of emerging authors.

As a host, Jojo has covered a variety of events in music and literature which includes the well-known new music platform iluvlive, Ealing Book Festival, Chiswick Book Festival and Hanwell Hootie.
