Lucy Gape
Lucy Gape is a broadcast journalist, presenter, and actor from East Sussex.
Lucy is currently a freelance journalist and producer for the BBC News Channel and newsreader for Westside Radio in London. At the BBC, Lucy works across the channel’s various news programmes, including ‘Verified Live’, ‘The Context’ and ‘The World Today’.
In 2024, Lucy completed her master’s degree in television journalism at City, University of London, with Distinction. During her time studying at City, she reported and directed numerous news packages exploring the lives of working people around London, and presented the university’s in-house news programmes, ‘City News’ and ‘Question Time’. She also co-wrote and hosted ‘Why Are We So Obsessed With…?’ a podcast exploring the queer community’s idolisation of iconic women, and wrote, reported and co-produced ‘Dementia: The Price of Memory’, a documentary exploring the social care system and how finances impact one’s choices in dementia care.
As an actor, Lucy has gained years of experience in the film and television industry. She began working professionally as a teenager, quickly gaining lead roles in ‘Hollyoaks’ and ‘The Making of a Lady’ alongside Joanna Lumley. Her acting credits also include Netflix’s ‘The Crown’, Hulu’s ‘Black Cake’, BBC’s ‘Doctors’, as well as numerous stage productions including ‘The Beast of Blue Yonder’ at the Southwark Playhouse. She is a keen comedian, having starred in several shows with London’s leading improvisational comedy theatre, The Free Association.
